How it works
Square footage is just area in square feet: length times width for a rectangular space. For a whole home or an L-shaped room, you split it into rectangles, find each one's square footage, and add them together. It's the number flooring, paint, and real-estate pricing are all based on.

Good to know
- Convert inches to feet first (divide by 12) — measuring one side in feet and another in inches gives a wrong answer.
