How it works
A time card calculator adds up daily clock-in and clock-out entries across a pay period, subtracts breaks, and produces total hours and pay. It's the digital version of a punch card, separating regular hours from overtime.
Time card total
Daily hours = out − in − breaks Period total = Σ daily hours
- in / out
- punch times each day
- breaks
- unpaid break time
Worked example
- Mon–Fri, 8 hours each after breaks
- 8 × 5
40 regular hours for the week.
Good to know
- Hours beyond 40 in a week typically shift to the overtime rate.
- Convert minutes to decimals (45 min = 0.75 h) before multiplying by the pay rate.
- Keep entries consistent with your employer's rounding policy.
